Transcript [00:00] Well, joining me now is Troy Miller, the [00:02] president and CEO of National Religious [00:05] Broadcasters. Troy, uh, what what is the [00:08] significance of James Dobson's ministry? [00:13] Oh, I'm not sure I can even put that [00:16] into words. You know, as uh, as uh, [00:19] Franklin Graham said, this is five [00:21] decades of ministry. I'm not sure that [00:23] there's anybody who's had more impact on [00:27] families in this country uh than James [00:30] Dobson has. Not only through his radio [00:33] programs, his media um but his books. I [00:36] mean uh you know when my wife and I were [00:39] in the 80s raising our kids in the 80s [00:41] and 90s uh you know the strong willed [00:44] child that that book was referenced a [00:46] lot uh in our home. [00:51] >> Yeah. I was one of those strong willed [00:53] children and my parents actually read [00:54] his stuff. I wasn't too appreciative [00:56] back when I was a child, but now it's [00:58] it's a different story. You know, it [01:01] it's interesting, Troy, because we [01:02] really have lost two great men. Of [01:05] course, uh you have John MacArthur who [01:08] passed recently and now James Dobson. Uh [01:11] and people always wonder who is going to [01:12] be there to pick up the baton and and [01:15] keep sharing and making an impact at [01:17] that level in the culture. [01:19] >> Yeah. And look, God's always raised [01:21] people up. And so we have a number of of [01:24] pastors uh that are, you know, stepping [01:26] up to God's calling to to, you know, [01:29] media today and and calling to influence [01:31] the family and influence the culture. [01:33] And they're doing that, as you said, you [01:35] know, on the bedrock of Christianity, [01:36] but on the shoulders of giants like [01:38] James Dobson and Dr. MacArthur, Dr. [01:42] Kennedy. We lost Pat Robertson recently, [01:45] you know. So we we have a change in that [01:47] generation. But look, I want to say [01:48] something about your last segment. We're [01:51] also seeing a lot of younger generation, [01:54] Gen Z and the millennials who are are [01:57] really stepping up and rejecting the [01:59] messages of the culture today. And [02:01] they're going back to those family [02:03] fundamentals uh that Dr. Dobson taught [02:06] us all. And that is so encouraging. [02:10] You know, I spoke with President Trump [02:11] earlier today and we had a conversation [02:14] about faith. Here's what he had to say. [02:17] They were the backbone of this country [02:19] and they still are, but they're they [02:22] they were dwindling. But I'm telling [02:24] you, they're coming back. Religion's [02:25] coming back and religion brings our [02:27] country together. [02:31] >> Do you agree with the president there [02:33] that we are seeing a resurgence? [02:35] >> I couldn't agree with the president more [02:38] uh that we're not only seeing a [02:40] resurgence. Look, we we've seen a number [02:41] of indications. Uh Bible sales over the [02:44] last year are up. uh young men going to [02:47] church is up. Uh people returning to [02:49] church is up. Even our own recent Bara [02:51] study showed that 68% of Gen Zers [02:55] interact with some form of Christian [02:57] media uh on a regular basis and 58% of [03:01] of millennials. Look T 60% of the [03:05] country of the country as a whole [03:08] interacts with some form of Christian [03:10] media on a regular basis. So yeah, I [03:12] think there's a real resurgence into [03:15] faith. Um there there's been a a time [03:18] where people were were as the president [03:20] said, they were pushed aside and now [03:22] he's really his administration has [03:25] really opened up that freedom. [03:28] >> Troy, we have to leave it there. Sorry [03:31] for the abbreviated conversation. We'll [03:33] get you back on to talk more. Uh but
