Transcript [00:00] d [00:00] that is indeed how we have [00:02] endured. And for more, [00:05] we're going to bring in [00:07] Christie Fraga, mayor of [00:08] Doral, Florida, along with [00:09] Troy Miller, president and [00:10] CEO of the National [00:12] Religious Broadcasters. [00:14] Wonderful to be with you [00:15] both today. Troy, I want [00:16] to start with you. Talk to [00:18] us about the significance [00:20] of this day and why it's [00:22] so important now more than [00:23] ever. And I know you were [00:25] at the Capitol this [00:25] morning. I was and thank [00:27] you for having me. And it [00:28] was a beautiful event this [00:29] morning. Just lovely. [00:31] Speaker Johnson comments [00:32] really called the nation [00:33] to prayer, which, as he [00:34] said, we are rooted in [00:36] prayer. I think we all [00:37] know behind the theme is [00:39] the picture of General [00:41] Washington at the lowest [00:42] point of the war. He [00:43] didn't call the Army to a [00:45] strategic planning. He [00:46] didn't call him in to sort [00:48] of regroup. He called them [00:49] to a day of fasting and [00:51] prayer. And we have that [00:52] beautiful image of him [00:53] praying in the woods where [00:55] he called to the God of [00:56] armies. He recognized that [00:58] it is the sovereignty of [00:59] God upon this nation that [01:02] is at the root of this [01:03] nation's success. So it [01:04] was a beautiful event in [01:05] the Capitol. It was so [01:06] wonderful. And of course, [01:07] there's a number of events [01:09] taking place throughout [01:09] the country, not just in [01:11] D.C. also including in [01:12] Doral. Mayor, tell us what [01:14] you're doing in your [01:15] beautiful city to observe [01:16] this day. Absolutely. [01:18] Thank you for having me [01:19] today. And it's a special [01:20] day for us as well as we [01:22] recognize National Day of [01:23] Prayer. For many years now. [01:24] This morning we had a [01:26] wonderful breakfast that [01:27] was gathered by many [01:30] business leaders in our [01:31] community and also other [01:32] elected officials where we [01:33] prayed for for all the [01:35] important things in our [01:36] community, from local [01:37] governments to our federal [01:39] government, first [01:40] responders. And this [01:42] evening, we will have a [01:43] National Day of Prayer [01:45] concert. All the churches, [01:46] the synagogue and the [01:49] Catholic Church in our [01:49] community come together [01:51] and we do a prayer concert, [01:53] which we had about 3000 [01:55] people last year and [01:56] expect to break about 5000 [01:57] people this year. And it's [01:59] a beautiful evening. Yeah. [02:02] That's just so wonderful. [02:03] I love to see that. I want [02:05] to stay with you, mayor, [02:06] and I want to ask you, you [02:08] know, how you see prayer, [02:09] helping your city and your [02:10] community? And do you [02:11] think that it could be [02:12] really a good way to bring [02:14] people together, [02:15] especially in a community [02:16] as diverse as yours? [02:18] Absolutely. And that's why [02:19] we do this each year, [02:21] because it really is more [02:22] that unites us than what [02:24] divides us. And prayer is [02:25] one of those things that [02:27] unites us. We believe [02:29] strongly in praying for [02:30] our youth in the next [02:31] generation and the leaders [02:33] of our communities. And so [02:35] we have over the years, [02:38] always had a national day [02:39] of prayer as an [02:41] opportunity to come [02:42] together as a city in [02:44] different faiths and pray [02:45] for those things that we [02:47] find to be necessary. [02:49] Prayer is present in [02:50] moments of celebration, [02:51] but also in moments of, of, [02:54] of anguish. And, you know, [02:55] it's important in our [02:56] community and a community [02:57] that's extremely diverse. [02:58] And people have come from [02:59] all over the world to make [03:01] this their home, that they [03:04] unite with their neighbors [03:06] and, and something that [03:07] brings us close. And that [03:09] is a larger power and, and [03:12] our faith. Yeah. And we [03:14] know that President Trump [03:15] has often asked Americans [03:16] to pray for our country. [03:18] And Troy, it really seems [03:19] that's resonating. There's [03:20] a revival going on right [03:21] now here in America, and [03:22] more and more people [03:24] really are turning back to [03:25] God, especially young [03:26] people. There's a recent [03:27] Gallup poll that found 42% [03:29] of young men in the U.S. [03:30] said that religion was, [03:31] quote, very important to [03:33] them. That's compared to [03:36] 28% back in 2023. So, Troy, [03:38] what do you attribute that [03:39] to? Yeah, we've seen that [03:41] too, and heard that from a [03:43] number of our ministries, [03:44] the youth, the young [03:45] adults heading into church, [03:47] heading to Christian [03:48] events, going out to [03:49] Christian medias, all on [03:51] the rise. And I think [03:52] there's a real hunger. We [03:53] did a survey a year ago [03:55] with the Barna Group and [03:56] asked, why? Why are you [03:57] tuning in? And they said, [03:59] encouragement. I want to [04:00] know more about the Bible, [04:01] nor about more about God [04:02] and more about [04:04] relationships. How do I [04:05] have really quality [04:06] relationships in this kind [04:08] of virtual world we live [04:09] in today? Yeah. Well, [04:11] wonderful to be wit
