Transcript [00:00] and one group that prominently is a [00:02] strong supporter of former president [00:03] Trump are white Evangelical Christians [00:06] eight out of 10 supported Trump in the [00:09] 2020 elections now to get some insight [00:11] on this let's bring in Troy Miller the [00:14] president and CEO of National Religious [00:17] broadcasters really good to see you good [00:19] morning Troy now first because of [00:22] everything that happened and there have [00:23] been quite a few reports on the [00:25] Christian Community reacting to the [00:26] assassination attempt on Trump tell me [00:29] what's your reaction [00:31] yeah first our prayers have uh always [00:34] been out for the president we continue [00:35] to pray for him an event like that's [00:38] very traumatic we're also praying for [00:40] the family uh of the retired firefighter [00:43] who lost his life as he was just trying [00:46] to exercise his right as American to [00:48] peacefully listen to a political speech [00:51] and for the two individuals who were uh [00:53] wounded and now recovering uh so the [00:56] community really has that's that's the [00:59] reaction is that's that's what we're [01:01] about and we need to keep praying for [01:03] that and pray for that this country can [01:05] come together and maybe the tragedy of [01:08] this event but the good side of it could [01:10] be the unity that it would bring across [01:12] the country right and now let's move to [01:17] to um the more political issue here so [01:19] how has Trump been able to use the [01:21] Evangelical platform like just mentioned [01:24] he garnered a lot of support there so [01:26] how do you think he was able to achieve [01:28] that [01:30] well first of all I think Trump uh uh [01:33] just in general understands the the [01:35] working class community and the working [01:37] Community across this country and I [01:39] think he relates to that uh Trump was uh [01:42] uh early on in his candidacy reached out [01:44] to the Evangelical Cod Community to find [01:47] out what the community's needs were and [01:50] what the priorities were for the [01:51] community and uh he's really been [01:53] involved I think he's come along in his [01:56] own spiritual walk of where he's at uh [01:59] with his relation ship with God but he [02:02] has really attempted to understand the [02:04] important issues for this community and [02:07] that's really resonated and he really [02:09] comes across when you meet him as a as [02:11] just a down-to-earth person who's [02:13] genuinely concerned about uh this [02:16] country and he's concerned about faith [02:17] across this country so let's talk about [02:20] some of those issues um Trump actually [02:22] talked about tackling CH Christian bias [02:24] at the nrb um this this last nrb so tell [02:29] me a bit more more about how big of an [02:31] issue this is for [02:32] you well it's a huge issue for us [02:35] because we're an organization of [02:37] Christian communicators our uh members [02:39] are on radio and television they're all [02:42] across the digital Spectrum in the [02:43] internet and we have seen just [02:47] especially over the last five years uh [02:49] so much censorship on our messages we [02:52] often talk to people out there if you're [02:53] going to talk about uh life if you're [02:56] going to talk about the family if you're [02:57] going to talk about there are only two [02:59] genders male and female if you're going [03:01] to talk about the marriages between a [03:03] man and a woman you're probably going to [03:05] get censored on most social media [03:07] platforms and your message is going to [03:09] get either twisted or drowned out in the [03:11] mainstream media I see well thank you so [03:13] much for give us for giving us your [03:15] Insight on all this tro Miller thanks [03:18] for coming on [03:19] today thanks for having me
