Transcript [00:04] so exciting to have joining us here on [00:06] the program Troy Miller he's the CEO of [00:09] National Religious broadcasters thank [00:12] you so much Troy for coming on oh thanks [00:15] Stacy for having me again I'm glad [00:17] you're back because the Evangelical vote [00:19] is something I love talking about I [00:20] actually don't understand the phenomenon [00:22] of having 30 or 40 sometimes the numbers [00:25] change but it's somewhere in the range [00:26] of 30 to 50 million Americans who are [00:29] evangelicals who are either unregistered [00:31] to vote or don't vote in major [00:33] presidential contests and I always [00:35] wonder about that because I feel like as [00:37] a Christian we've we've really been [00:38] mandated to tend the garden and as a [00:40] part of tending the garden it's dealing [00:42] with politics it's just a tool we're [00:44] supposed to use it you know every year [00:46] we might vote on school board or we [00:48] might vote in a primary on Election [00:49] years for president but there's [00:51] something to vote on and it doesn't take [00:53] very long if you go during the lull [00:55] right before lunch or the Lull in the [00:57] early afternoon voting takes less than [00:59] 20 minutes why why don't people [01:01] vote right it does take less than 20 [01:03] minutes and we have all the [01:04] opportunities to early vote today you [01:07] know we we're working on this hard [01:08] because there's been a history of just [01:10] intimidation within the Christian [01:12] Community of you know whether or not [01:14] Christians should be involved in the [01:16] culture and and look to think about it [01:19] for a second to step back and and say [01:22] who do you want to be governed by this [01:23] is not a personality test this is about [01:26] who's going to govern the country who's [01:29] going to set the policies who's going to [01:31] set the agenda for this country and [01:33] whoever that is they have a worldview [01:36] they have a a view an ideology and [01:40] ideology behind them that is going to [01:42] drive those decisions and I think [01:43] Christians need to step back and think [01:46] about that do we want that to be driven [01:48] by a Christian worldview or do we want [01:50] that to be driven by a secular Pagan [01:53] worldview because if you look at what's [01:54] going on in politics today the world is [01:57] moving uh and this country in particular [02:00] is moving very very rapidly to the [02:03] secular side and the secularists are [02:05] driving the laws in this country who do [02:07] who have thought Stacy that we would [02:08] today one of the major issues in the [02:10] culture today is whether or not you want [02:12] to allow adolescence to mutilate [02:16] themselves because right now in their [02:18] life they might think they're another [02:20] gender and you would allow them to to [02:23] ruin their life when they make that [02:25] decision or change that we don't allow [02:26] them to drive we don't allow them to [02:27] smoke we don't allow them to drink but [02:29] suddenly it's okay to say yeah I'm a [02:31] different gender go ahead and ruin me [02:34] for Life uh if this fad passes me it's [02:37] just crazy and Christians need to think [02:39] about that yeah and the lack of [02:43] participation means that people who [02:45] don't have children's best interest at [02:46] heart are the ones who make these [02:47] decisions when when you talk about [02:49] things kids can't do you know what else [02:51] kids can't do they can't get their ears [02:52] pierced or get a tattoo without their [02:54] parents permission right just try it [02:56] send your 12-year-old into a tattoo [02:59] parlor or or the little uh princess shop [03:01] at the mall where they do the ear [03:03] piercings and they'll tell that kid [03:05] where's your parent I I need your mom or [03:07] your dad here to give me permission to [03:08] pierce your ears because they viewed [03:10] that as a permanent change even though [03:12] Troy we all know you can take your [03:14] earrings out and let your ear holes [03:15] close up it'll grow clothes and you can [03:18] also with tattoos you can pay now it's [03:20] not even expensive anymore to have a [03:22] tattoo lasered off so you can remove [03:24] tattoos but you you know what you can't [03:25] do you can't regrow breasts if you have [03:28] them removed you can't um there other [03:30] things they're doing to people's bodies [03:31] we can't really discuss here on on [03:34] television it's it's that Frankenstein [03:38] like we can't discuss it but these are [03:40] changes that you can't undo and the [03:42] people who submit to these changes are [03:44] doomed to a lifetime of hormones and [03:48] further surgical treatments to maintain [03:50] the changes because their body begins to [03:52] fight to fix it to put it back the way [03:54] it's supposed to [03:55] be that's right their their bodies [03:58] fighting against uh what is unnatural [04:01] and and to do this so look again back to [04:04] your question back to this whole idea [04:06] that Christians uh don't participate too [04:09] many Christians don't but look if they [04:11] did and we're working like I said we can [04:13] talk about that we're working very hard [04:15] to get Christians involved in the vote [04:17] this year and I think we're hear what [04:19] we're hearing is more Christians are [04:20] going to be involved in the vote this is [04:22] really the first you you know [04:24] presidential election postco and post [04:26] all of the co issues where churches and [04:29] Christians and evangelicals suddenly [04:31] found out that their government doesn't [04:33] have their best interest in mind [04:35] shutting down churches telling them they [04:37] can't meet while strip clubs and bars [04:39] and other things stayed open Christians [04:41] are realizing that there are [04:42] consequences in policies uh that get [04:45] established by the government and and so [04:47] we're hoping to see a a really a large [04:50] turnout this year from Christian voters [04:53] but it's not it's not going to happen [04:54] unless we talk about the issues and [04:56] particularly issues that are going to [04:57] affect us as churches look today you [04:59] can't talk on social media if you talk [05:02] about the family the traditional family [05:04] a husband and a wife if you talk about [05:06] there are only two genders mother uh [05:08] women and men if you talk about that [05:11] it's wrong to transition children and [05:13] Life Starts at at conception you're [05:16] going to be banned on social media uh [05:19] and so look all the things that we hold [05:21] dear are set by policies in this country [05:24] and that starts with getting out to vote [05:26] who sets and establishes those policies [05:30] yeah and so you know if you look at some [05:32] of the data surrounding this it really [05:34] is kind of stunning first off [05:36] evangelicals not voting heavily impacts [05:39] policy on the right side of the [05:41] political Spectrum so I'm not advocating [05:43] for one side or the other but it just so [05:45] happens that when you look at Pew [05:46] research data they show that party [05:48] identification among religious groups [05:50] and religiously unaffiliated voters you [05:52] can look at Protestants who mostly align [05:55] with the Republican party you can look [05:57] at those who call themselves [05:58] evangelicals they mostly aligned with [06:00] the Republican Party Jewish voters [06:02] continue to be mostly aligned with the [06:04] Democrats Muslims associate with the [06:06] Democrats over Republicans by a large [06:08] margin and Democrats maintain a wide [06:10] Advantage among religiously unaffiliated [06:12] voters so in order to balance out those [06:15] realities Christians Bible believing [06:18] people who go to church who have a [06:19] Biblical worldview cannot look at our [06:21] political world and it's a mess let's [06:23] face it Troy you you actually at your [06:26] convention earlier this year at nrb you [06:28] had so many speakers the president [06:29] president of Heritage you you president [06:31] Trump was there and they all spoke to [06:33] the realities of our political sphere [06:36] it's a mess and the only way to clean up [06:38] a mess at least that's how we do it at [06:40] our house is if it's a big mess I call [06:42] everybody in it's my husband all three [06:44] kids and I say look this is what we have [06:45] to clean up and then five hands five [06:48] sets of hands five physical Persons get [06:51] it done much faster than if I was to [06:52] tackle it alone so for a big mess like [06:55] what's going on in politics we need [06:57] those 30 million or however many [06:59] millions more than that we need those [07:00] voters to jump in and help us clean this [07:02] thing up right we need them not to set [07:05] on the sidelines here uh and say well [07:07] this doesn't really affect me or I don't [07:10] really want to to mix religion and [07:12] politics that's not that's not the case [07:14] that's going to happen what you're [07:15] really saying is Well I'm going to go [07:18] ahead and let the other side mix their [07:21] ideologies their worldview and drive the [07:24] policy of this country and look where [07:25] that's put us today as I said look look [07:27] where that's put us economically where [07:29] it's put us socially where it's put us [07:31] in our status as a country militarily [07:33] I'm a veteran we're going into to uh [07:35] celebrate uh the 4th of July look where [07:38] that sets us as a as a country today [07:40] that we've allowed this to happen and so [07:43] Christians can't sit there and say [07:45] anymore we can be neutral in this you [07:47] can't be neutral in this you know we we [07:49] use this line or this line gets used [07:51] against us all the time and it's used [07:53] really incorrectly to love your neighbor [07:55] but is it loving your neighbor when you [07:57] allow policies that are indoctrinating [08:00] your children in these institutes and [08:02] schools is it loving your neighbor when [08:05] policies are are taking money out of [08:08] their pockets in higher taxes and paying [08:10] for things that you don't support as a [08:12] Christian is is that really loving our [08:15] neighbor in doing those sort of things [08:17] it's not um loving your neighbor is when [08:20] let's say you see your neighbor is [08:22] suffering from some kind of an illness [08:23] and they're hurting themselves loving [08:25] your neighbor is stopping them or [08:27] calling 911 to have someone come come [08:29] and save their life loving your neighbor [08:31] is the person who's standing on the [08:33] bridge and they start to put their leg [08:34] over so they can jump you reach over and [08:36] you snatch them back and they may not [08:39] appreciate it in that moment but later [08:40] when they're back to their right mind [08:42] they will appreciate the fact that you [08:44] took the time to stop and save them and [08:46] that's the equivalent of what we're [08:47] seeing here children who are suffering [08:49] from a temporary disorder should not be [08:52] making permanent changes to their bodies [08:54] to refer to the earlier example that we [08:55] made and those who are not participating [08:58] in our voting processes need to be [09:00] rescued by us and especially people in [09:02] your organization of which I'm one [09:04] National Religious broadcasters to go [09:06] out and tell the truth and encourage [09:08] people to participate in our process our [09:09] cleanup work it's not done we need help [09:12] and we need everyone to jump in Troy [09:14] Miller
