Transcript [00:01] [Music] [00:06] welcome back to the program I'm Sam [00:07] storo and this is the Sam Sorbo show [00:09] live on Patriot TV my next guest is a [00:12] senior executive with more than 30 years [00:14] of management and business experience [00:16] his name is Troy a Miller he comes to us [00:19] for as the president and the CEO of the [00:21] National Religious broadcasters which is [00:23] one of the finest conventions that I've [00:26] been to Welcome to the program Troy [00:28] Miller thanks Sam for having me today [00:32] yeah you guys are really knocking it out [00:33] the ballpark and when I come to the nrb [00:36] I've actually invited friends who are [00:38] not part of uh broadcasting uh religious [00:41] broadcasting or any broadcasting and [00:43] they've come to the convention and [00:45] they've absolutely loved the entire [00:48] thing they've come to two so far they [00:49] just enjoyed it so much but you're [00:52] really on the front lines for [00:53] communicating the the religious message [00:57] uh to to the United States of America [01:00] and how did we get so far off track that [01:03] we don't think that this is a Christian [01:06] Nation yeah you know it's it's a really [01:09] interesting you know I would say look a [01:11] lot of what happens in the public sector [01:13] today uh has gotten us there we've [01:15] looked at the sexual Revolution over the [01:17] last three or four decades we've looked [01:19] at the the continued move to liberalism [01:23] and and particularly today and even more [01:25] socialism uh that's G on in the campuses [01:28] and we've really seen recently just an [01:30] isolation of of Christian voices you [01:33] know that's one of the things that nrb [01:34] works the hardest on is to keep all of [01:37] these broadcasts and Christian [01:38] programmers who want to speak into the [01:41] public sector to be able to do that and [01:43] do that without any opposition and [01:45] that's a tough tough road [01:47] today yeah and so you've written you've [01:50] recently written an article that makes [01:52] the case for AM radio you know a lot of [01:55] people are just thinking AM radio is a a [01:58] dinosaur it's a thing of the past asked [02:00] you know what's the point but actually [02:02] it's a it's actually a refuge I love [02:05] that that's great great image it's a [02:08] refuge for people because it's really on [02:10] AM radio that you find the conservative [02:12] message Advanced I did radio for almost [02:15] four years every day three hours a day [02:18] um nationally syndicated so I remember [02:21] those days and it was a it was a speak [02:22] freely say your peace people could call [02:25] in and and have a conversation with you [02:28] you're making the case that it's good [02:30] for Hurricane for you know for when [02:33] other things go down which obviously [02:35] yeah sure but why is why do you think [02:39] why do you think it's important to make [02:40] the case for AM radio well look you said [02:43] said it there am radio's top two [02:45] programming on AM radio is is [02:48] conservative talk and Christian talk and [02:50] teaching and so if you're a rural kid [02:53] like me that grew up in rural Nebraska [02:55] in a farm country uh you listen to AM [02:57] radio for all of your news uh you'd [03:00] lived out far enough you didn't get an [03:01] FM signal and when the tornado season [03:04] came or as you said as we talked about [03:06] when hurricane season's on AM radio the [03:09] am frequency has the ability to go [03:11] through uh those storms and that kind of [03:14] interference well more than FM can do [03:17] and certainly cell phones the first [03:19] thing that usually goes in a natural [03:20] disaster is the cell phones are down so [03:22] AM radio provides a a lot of service [03:25] over 90 million people Depend and still [03:27] listen to AM radio today and this real [03:29] fight isn't really about AM radio and [03:32] whether AM radio is Antiquated or not [03:34] the market can figure that out this [03:36] fight's about who controls the [03:38] information in the car the car companies [03:40] want to control what information you get [03:42] to they want to take you to the digital [03:45] dash they want to take the radio away [03:46] from you and have you subscribe to [03:49] everything so like big Tech today they [03:52] can then control what you get and it's [03:53] going to be pay AM Radio is free why are [03:56] we taking away free access to [03:57] information across the country just so [04:00] big Tech can big car manufacturers can [04:03] control what you listen to you know that [04:06] is really fascinating because um I [04:08] recently read an argu an article about [04:11] how airline companies no longer are so [04:13] much in the business of flying people [04:15] around they have changed their business [04:17] model to credit cards and so their main [04:21] business is now credit cards which then [04:23] you go how does that work but it's [04:26] actually all about information control [04:28] and you're right the car companies are [04:30] now in the business not just selling [04:33] cars but controlling information and um [04:36] so how do we how do we fight back [04:38] against that because I want to keep my [04:40] free AM radio and my my wonderful AM [04:43] radio [04:44] hosts yeah and you want to keep that [04:46] free access as you said so look call [04:49] your congressman and call your Senator [04:51] the house has already passed the the AM [04:53] radio and the dash act and we have to [04:55] get it through the Senate now and of [04:57] course the Senate is controlled by the [04:58] Democrats with uh Schumer and they're [05:01] all about controlling information so we [05:03] really need them uh to hear from you [05:06] from the audience to say look we want [05:08] the AM radio we want free access to [05:10] information we don't want to have to [05:12] subscribe to everything and we don't [05:14] want to have the car company controlling [05:16] that store to say what apps we can and [05:18] can't have in our [05:19] car yeah wow you've also written [05:22] recently written an article about Second [05:24] Corinthians Rock the Boat tell me about [05:27] that yeah so you know look it uh [05:30] Christians I think are being pushed into [05:33] and bullied to not be part of the [05:36] political process in this uh country [05:38] today and um and this is really about [05:41] what our role is as Christians now look [05:43] we don't we don't depend we don't put [05:46] our faith in any institution and [05:48] certainly not government institutions [05:51] but look as Christians we want a society [05:53] that's governed in a righteous moral way [05:56] and our society's definitely going the [05:58] wrong direction so so the the question [06:01] is who do you want to be governed by do [06:02] you want to be governed by the immoral [06:04] atheist who are leading us down a path [06:07] of of really socialist and and total [06:11] totalitarian control or do you want to [06:13] be governed by people who really love [06:15] their neighbors and care about one [06:17] another and so we're we're talking about [06:19] being involved in the public sector but [06:21] we're also talking about just living [06:23] your faith out and loving your neighbor [06:25] and the most loving thing you can do to [06:26] your neighbor is to make sure they're [06:28] governed by a moral righteous [06:31] person yeah although people will make [06:34] the case and I'm playing devil's [06:36] advocate here uh between the two choices [06:39] you know and so I'll I'll give you my [06:42] answer if somebody wants to convince [06:45] young children that they can change [06:46] their gender they are a danger to [06:48] society and frankly to themselves uh and [06:51] so I won't vote for anybody who has that [06:54] moral agenda uh attached to them what do [06:58] you say yeah absolutely not not just [07:01] convince young children but they want to [07:04] indoctrinate young children to get them [07:06] to that point uh to where they do to [07:09] where they think that their gender is [07:10] the wrong gender how we don't let kid [07:12] kindergarteners can't make decisions uh [07:15] uh about life no parent would let them [07:17] and now you're going to make it let them [07:18] make a decision and let School uh [07:21] teachers and counselors influence them [07:24] into that decision that will affect them [07:26] for the rest of your lives that's that's [07:28] completely immoral plus that we have the [07:31] whole pro-life you know and this all [07:32] goes back to that we value life as being [07:36] the image of God we are created [07:38] different from anything else in in this [07:40] world and we value that but if if you [07:43] don't value that as a basic fundamental [07:45] Foundation that everything else falls [07:47] apart and that's where you get to this [07:49] whole M mization of of children that's [07:53] going on today how can you care about [07:54] kids if you don't care about life from [07:56] the [07:57] beginning oh my gosh and I do love that [07:59] argument and and I've heard that [08:01] argument made uh in different ways but [08:03] basically if you don't care about a baby [08:06] inside the womb there's no way you can [08:08] convince me that you care about the baby [08:10] outside the womb and I just mentioned on [08:12] the show in the state of California [08:14] they're they're walking a bill through [08:17] that would uh that that proposes [08:19] abortion be legal up until three or I [08:23] can't remember of his three or six weeks [08:24] post birth postbirth [08:27] po post birth that that the parents [08:30] could decide all of a sudden for [08:32] whatever reason and I know they list [08:34] these medical reasons but really we know [08:37] it doesn't stop there parents could [08:39] decide after and I think it is up to six [08:41] weeks after the child is born to say [08:44] that they don't do this but look look at [08:46] our neighbor to the north Canada you [08:48] know you can now you know choose uh [08:51] assisted suicide for almost any reason [08:54] up there if you don't protect life at [08:56] the beginning you're not going to [08:57] protect it in the middle and you're [08:59] certainly not going to protect it at the [09:00] end and at some point you're going to [09:02] decide these people are just a burden on [09:04] society and it's time to euphan eyesee [09:06] them and this is look that's the [09:08] direction we're going you can't say it's [09:10] not because it's happening in countries [09:12] around the [09:13] world yeah I we've seen it from Holland [09:16] and Belgium I think also and um the [09:20] assisted suicide is just a disaster but [09:22] this idea that that now you can [09:24] basically declare somebody as wanting to [09:27] commit suicide even if maybe they don't [09:30] but you know they're a burden and that [09:32] was that was actually always my argument [09:34] my my I don't know if it was my number [09:36] one argument against Obamacare but one [09:38] of the main arguments against the [09:40] Obamacare was once you socialize [09:42] medicine you all become a burden on on [09:44] society so uh you're a burden to the [09:47] government man that's not going to go [09:48] well for you Troy Miller from uh the [09:52] National Religious broadcasters that's [09:53] the nrb you guys meet once a year is it [09:57] is it only once a year yeah the annual [10:00] convention is is once a year it'll be in [10:02] February we'll be in Great Vine Texas at [10:04] the Gaylord uh National Texas National [10:07] and uh will be February 22nd through the [10:10] 24th uh down in in uh in Texas this year [10:14] coming up in in February of [10:16] 25 so I think you were there maybe it [10:19] was two years ago and I was at that one [10:20] and it was fantastic it's a beautiful [10:22] place it's it's a great venue and you [10:25] get really phenomenal speakers wonderful [10:27] events um if you are the representative [10:31] of the direction of the nrb I am very [10:34] pleased to support it and support you [10:36] and so thank you so much for coming on [10:38] the program
