Transcript [00:00] you know earlier this morning uh the day [00:02] started a little earlier than normal um [00:05] we had a big get out the vote gathering [00:07] at the VFW Hall the veterans of foreign [00:11] war uh Wars Hall in cerville Tennessee [00:16] and uh had a wonderful time uh Justin [00:18] Johnson leading up a a series of of [00:22] talks and conversations throughout this [00:24] election season and today Senator Marsha [00:27] Blackburn was the keynote speaker and uh [00:30] they asked me to bring the donuts always [00:32] happy to bring the donuts and we brought [00:34] the donuts and had a great conversation [00:37] with Senator Blackburn um about not only [00:40] the election but also her her stand on [00:44] AM radio and making sure that every [00:48] automobile in America will always have [00:50] an AM have access to AM radio and that's [00:54] a big deal and especially when you look [00:56] at what's been happening in some of [00:58] these disaster areas where the only [01:00] source of information has been coming [01:02] from AM radio and that's that is a Vally [01:05] important thing so the left they want to [01:08] get rid of AM radio primarily because of [01:10] the conservative talk radio audience but [01:13] again the primary use of AM radio is to [01:16] convey important news and information in [01:18] the event of some sort of a disaster so [01:21] we really appreciate uh Senator [01:23] Blackburn and her position on that and [01:26] also just as a reminder that many of [01:29] your talk radio stations that that you [01:31] listen to around the nation are now [01:33] owned by George Soros and this is one of [01:36] the reasons I own my own radio station [01:38] in Memphis Tennessee and I can promise [01:40] you this it's going to be a cold day and [01:42] you know where before that guy ever gets [01:44] his hands on my radio station so there [01:46] will always be at least one conservative [01:49] talk radio station in America I can [01:51] promise you that in the meantime we have [01:54] got a lot of work to do and we've got to [01:57] get out the vote two numbers stick in [01:59] mind mind 25 million and 15 million 25 [02:04] million registered Christian voters who [02:06] do not vote 15 million Christian voters [02:10] who are not registered to vote I want to [02:13] go to the Patriot mobile newsmaker line [02:14] say hello to our good friend he is the [02:16] president of National Religious [02:18] broadcasters also the chief executive [02:20] officer Troy Miller Troy good to have [02:22] you back on the [02:23] show hey Todd great to be with you again [02:27] so those numbers concer me Troy the [02:31] number of Christians that are are not [02:33] engaged in the political [02:36] process yeah exactly Todd the numbers [02:39] you quoted nearly 30 million uh adults [02:42] in America who qualify under under the [02:45] Barner survey as evangelicals and yet a [02:49] third of them did not even vote in the [02:51] 2020 election and just to give you the [02:53] impact of that 7 million Christians in [02:56] the Battleground States didn't go to the [02:59] pole and vote for who will govern this [03:02] country and and as you know and I know [03:05] those States most of those states were [03:07] decided by just thousands of votes so [03:10] this would have made a huge impact on [03:12] the election had Christians gotten [03:14] involved in a process I believe God [03:17] calls us to be involved in now the the [03:20] issue here and I was giving a speech [03:22] over the weekend in Washington at the [03:24] pre vote stand uh Gathering and and I [03:27] pointed out here we've got to play smart [03:29] politics and I get it a lot of [03:31] Christians are really upset with how [03:33] things went down with the party platform [03:35] vote uh with what president Trump is [03:37] saying about abortion I get that but the [03:40] reality is we've got a bigger issue [03:42] right now and that is stopping a Marxist [03:44] takeover of our [03:47] country well and I think a lot of the [03:50] the issues have people have really [03:52] decided I I think Christians know where [03:54] they stand and know where the two [03:56] parties stand on the issues today the [03:59] real problem is getting them to [04:01] motivated to get out and vote their [04:04] values that that's the real issue Todd [04:06] they've been shamed into thinking that [04:08] politics has no place in religion or [04:12] vice versa that people who are religious [04:14] have no place in politics and that that [04:16] is a Lie from the pit of Hell because [04:19] again we're going to decide who will [04:22] govern this country that means who's [04:23] going to set the policies who's going to [04:25] decide what we spend money on who's [04:28] going to set the ideology that go across [04:30] all of our institutions so there's a lot [04:32] at stake here for Christians just to set [04:35] on the sidelines the I was really struck [04:38] by something you wrote in your column on [04:40] Fox um you quoted some numbers from the [04:43] election forum and they estimate nearly [04:45] 7 million evangelicals in swing States [04:48] alone did not vote in the 2020 election [04:52] um what happens that those people [04:54] actually get out and vote [04:56] Troy well I think what you'll see is a [04:59] major shift in politics in this country [05:02] and I'm not just talking about politics [05:04] on the right because Christians not [05:07] getting out in voting sends a message to [05:10] politicians across the board that this [05:12] that the way the country is governed [05:14] really doesn't matter to me so if you [05:16] want to bring if you're in the [05:18] Democratic party and you want to bring [05:19] the Democratic party back to the center [05:22] then make your voice heard okay vote for [05:25] candidates that are going to bring it [05:26] back to the values that you that you ad [05:29] too so this is it's a huge impact [05:32] there's a a lot at stake here uh and you [05:35] can't just set in the pews today and and [05:37] I'll tell you Todd one of the major [05:39] problems that that Christians have is we [05:41] don't have enough pastors who are [05:44] shepherding their churches in this [05:47] area so so how do we fix that problem [05:51] Troy well look pray vote stand was a [05:54] great uh conference so glad you were [05:56] there Tony Perkins and all the folks uh [05:58] there that do such a wonderful job there [06:01] so we need to do that we're continuing [06:03] to communicate out out the issues there [06:05] are so many places uh that you can go [06:07] family research Council ADF they all [06:09] have resources to be able to tell the [06:12] people in your church what are the key [06:13] issues in this election and how do they [06:16] line up to your biblical Christian world [06:19] view and then your responsibility if you [06:22] really do love your neighbor and love [06:25] people around you and want to see and [06:28] hear the gospel mage [06:30] proclaimed then you can't sit on the [06:32] sidelines you know I'm curious and by [06:34] the way folks we've got Troy Miller from [06:36] the National roist Religious [06:38] broadcasters with us and wrote a [06:39] terrific column on Fox News um and and [06:42] really challenging Christians to get out [06:44] and vote and engage the culture but Troy [06:46] I I'm curious have has anybody actually [06:48] sat down with these with some of these [06:50] younger pastors and I think this is [06:52] where the problem is that's a lot of [06:53] younger pastors who maybe have been [06:55] taught in seminary you shouldn't be [06:57] talking about politics from the pulpit [06:59] has any been able to sit down with these [07:00] guys and just kind of hear their [07:02] thoughts on on it and try to get an [07:04] understanding of what's going on in [07:05] their [07:06] brains yeah again there are several [07:09] organizations that that are out there [07:11] doing this that are setting down uh with [07:13] pastors and and I also think that [07:15] pastors I think we're going to see a [07:17] different swing in this election because [07:19] I think pastors with Co understood that [07:22] the government can come in and silence [07:24] the pulpit and and and that has made a [07:27] big impact on younger pastors so I think [07:29] think we might see a bit of a change [07:31] here but there are some great [07:32] organizations I mean you talked about [07:34] some of the things that you're doing and [07:35] some of the the things that FRC is doing [07:38] uh uh there Charlie Kirk's organization [07:41] is doing a a bunch of number of [07:43] wonderful things to get out with pastors [07:45] uh um Franklin Graham has been going [07:47] across the country and pastors are [07:49] listening there unlike in 2020 2016 and [07:53] and back they're actually listening this [07:57] time around because they they know they [07:59] can be [08:00] silenced yeah I I think that's a fair [08:02] point and a lot of people are forgetting [08:05] you know how and what they did to the [08:07] church community and sadly many churches [08:10] have yet to really recover you know the [08:12] the membership that went away uh did not [08:15] come back once the churches reopened and [08:17] for me I I well I wrote an entire book [08:19] about this that was one of my greatest [08:21] concerns was how quickly we were willing [08:23] to surrender our civil liberties uh that [08:26] is a dangerous dangerous thing uh Troy I [08:30] I'm you know I live in Memphis we are [08:32] controlled by democrats and I see every [08:34] church every predominant we're you know [08:37] majority black City every black church [08:39] in this city is mobilized and they are [08:43] involved in the political process and I [08:46] just don't see the Evangelical churches [08:48] um doing and and being involved at that [08:51] level and and I think that shows when [08:53] you see what's happening in the city [08:55] with the politics and with the um really [08:58] with the morality issue here at [09:00] Memphis well yeah exactly Todd and and [09:03] here's the problem with that that the [09:06] the IRS code which which is known as a [09:08] Johnson Amendment this is an amendment [09:10] that Linda B Johnson uh got pushed [09:12] through Congress attach to some some [09:14] laws the amendment itself was never [09:17] never voted on and and this back in the [09:19] 1950s has done more to silence the [09:22] Evangelical pulpits and pulpits across [09:24] this church this country that almost [09:26] anything think about it for 175 years [09:29] pulpits across this church were involved [09:32] in the Civil process the the the [09:35] Democratic processes of this country and [09:37] then all of a sudden Lyon B Johnson [09:39] decides churches uh didn't want him to [09:41] get in he hides behind the mask of of [09:44] I'm fighting communism and silences the [09:47] the churches and and this law has been [09:51] just uh um improperly applied if you're [09:54] a progressive liberal church you can do [09:57] all the mobilization you you're not [09:59] going to hear from the IRS but we've had [10:02] many of our members many churches who've [10:04] done the same thing on the conservative [10:06] side and the IRS immediately sends them [10:09] a letter saying if you want to lose your [10:10] nonprofit status uh you can't do this [10:13] anymore so we're taking the IRS to court [10:15] on this to be able to open up and and [10:17] free the voices of pulpits across this [10:20] country on on both sides and don't get [10:21] me wrong we don't argue either side [10:24] should be able to talk about the issues [10:26] of the political issues of today um in [10:29] that's one thing we at nrb are fighting [10:31] right now well I'm glad to hear that [10:33] Troy and I really appreciate the great [10:35] work you're doing at nrb and it is so [10:38] vitally important of and not only that [10:40] but also the work you guys are doing to [10:42] save AM radio uh and I'll give you the [10:45] final 30 seconds on that because that is [10:48] a huge huge issue that could impact Many [10:50] religious radio [10:52] stations that's exactly right top two [10:54] genres on m radio are Christian teaching [10:57] talk and conservative talk so we know [10:59] why the left wants to silence AM radio [11:02] but you made a great Point these two [11:04] storms that just hit show The Importance [11:06] of AM radio for two reasons one radio [11:09] stayed on the air to get the information [11:11] out and two it's been AM radio and [11:14] Christian radio stations who have been [11:16] the First Responders to help get get Aid [11:19] into these people when the government [11:21] has just failed miserably so AM radio [11:23] and am Christian stations need to stay [11:26] on the air um let your Congressman know [11:28] that all right Troy we're going to leave [11:30] it there good info and folks the message [11:34] here get out and vote on Election Day [11:37] Troy thank you thanks to all right Troy [11:40] Miller from the nrb National Religious [11:44] broadcasters and he's right about that [11:46] AM radio I'm telling you folks the only [11:49] reason they're coming after AM radio is [11:51] because Christians and conservatives are [11:54] the predominant audience
