[00:35] candidate uh Jimmy Carter spok to in RB [00:39] um but he he he was the only candidate [00:42] this year who we um uh uh sent an [00:46] invitation to that accepted so we sent [00:48] one out to at the time uh Nikki Haley [00:51] was still on the ticket she was still on [00:52] the tops and of course the sitting [00:55] president uh was invited and Donald [00:57] Trump was the only one that responded to [00:58] us and came in a addressed the nrb this [01:02] year um you know it's fascinating [01:05] there's a lot of people that will say [01:07] well Donald Trump's not really a [01:08] Christian Donald Trump this and Donald [01:10] Trump that um tell me if I'm wrong you [01:14] know when it comes to reaching out to [01:17] religious Americans it's kind of a Do no [01:20] harm thing right it it seems like [01:22] religion is under attack especially [01:25] Christianity in this country um we're [01:28] we're told that for for example somehow [01:31] the First Amendment says you can't have [01:32] a Bible Club in your school uh which is [01:36] multifaith by the way because there's an [01:37] old and a new testament but uh you can [01:40] have all the pride celebrations and drag [01:41] queen story hours that you want and [01:43] that's just fine and we've got this [01:45] crazy reading of the first amendment I [01:47] don't I see Trump as someone who is an [01:50] ally to people of faith in this [01:53] country oh absolutely you're you're [01:56] you're absolutely like right on both [01:58] accounts first of all the most of us in [02:00] in in the church and in the Family [02:02] Church it is all about Do no harm don't [02:04] don't interfere we look at the [02:05] government look at the First Amendment [02:07] it says the government should not be [02:09] interfering in the free exercise thereof [02:12] period end end of discussion stay out of [02:14] it um and but yet with you know the [02:17] Supreme Court ruling uh about you know [02:20] falsely understanding Jefferson's letter [02:23] to the Danberry Baptist of saying the [02:25] separation of church of state which [02:26] doesn't exist in anywhere in the [02:28] Constitution uh you know that's been [02:31] read wrong where the state keeps uh [02:33] pushing religion out just push push push [02:35] which they're interfering in the free [02:37] exercise there on but you're right Trump [02:40] trump himself has looked at the [02:41] Evangelical community and he's seen all [02:45] of the work that that goes on in the [02:47] evangelic community most Charities come [02:50] out of the Christian Community uh he [02:52] sees all that work and and he's [02:54] recognized it and he's respected it and [02:56] that's that's been huge in his first [02:59] term he he really lived up to and [03:01] followed through uh of tries to get the [03:04] government out of the interference with [03:06] it with the Christian Community rather [03:08] than constantly interfering you know one [03:11] of the things you know look anyone can [03:13] can play a gotcha on quoting Bible [03:17] verses I you know I don't we're not [03:20] expecting the president to be a Biblical [03:22] scholar or a professor of theology right [03:26] I mean even even even Mike Huckabee has [03:28] has said that like you know again it's [03:31] back to the Do no harm yes Mike Huckabee [03:33] is obviously somebody who can quote [03:36] chapter and verse but most people can't [03:39] and to say well and then for Democrats [03:41] to actually try to point that finger at [03:43] someone like Trump or any Republican who [03:46] fails their version of a litmus test is [03:49] like well let's talk about you [03:51] guys yeah yeah talk about hypocrisy on [03:54] the Democrat side uh to to to point that [03:57] figure but you're right nobody nobody I [04:00] talk to is looking for Trump or any [04:02] other person in the president City to be [04:04] the pastor and chief that's not the role [04:07] there of the president they're looking [04:09] for a commanderin-chief but they're also [04:11] looking for somebody who is going to [04:13] govern fairly and not govern let let [04:17] their own ideology govern and attack you [04:21] know people who they think are on the [04:22] other side and and look that's what [04:24] we've seen recently go on especially [04:27] with this Administration Christians feel [04:29] like they're under attack more now than [04:31] ever you know the FBI shows up and [04:33] knocks on the doors uh of Catholic PR [04:36] lifers uh you have prol lifers who um [04:39] protest or just simply praying at at [04:43] abortion clinics and and they've been [04:46] harassed and arrested far more than [04:49] anybody who has actually done physical [04:52] damage and violence to pro-life clinics [04:55] and pro-life uh uh uh uh institutions [04:58] and organizations the the the faith act [05:01] which was meant to protect both [05:03] institutions on both side has been used [05:05] over a hundred times on [05:09] prif demonstrators and less than a [05:11] handful of times on the pro-choice [05:15] pro-abortion demonstrators there and [05:17] that's that's the problem with this [05:19] government and look Trump at at our own [05:22] conference Trump said look he's going to [05:24] come back in and restore that balance [05:27] that's what we're looking for that kind [05:28] of a balance [05:30] you [05:31] know believing in religious liberty and [05:34] promoting religious liberty I'm this [05:36] might be a little controversial but if [05:38] somebody said well I'm an atheist but I [05:41] do believe in religious liberty because [05:44] that's that's what the Constitution says [05:46] that's what this country was founded on [05:49] so I might not participate in it but I [05:51] will I will actively promote the freedom [05:54] of religion because that's what it means [05:55] to be an American it's kind of like free [05:57] speech I don't agree with what you're [05:59] saying [06:00] but I'll fight to the death for your [06:01] right to say it and we've gotten lost in [06:04] that and I'm going to point something [06:05] else out and I'm not trying to start a [06:08] religious debate here but when when when [06:11] you see school districts that have let's [06:15] say the 10 commandments and they say [06:16] well that's a violation of the First [06:17] Amendment that's not establishing a [06:20] religion because more than one religion [06:22] Jews and Christians abide by the 10 ten [06:26] commandments so it's not a religion it's [06:28] multifaith when you're dealing with that [06:30] when you're dealing with people who want [06:32] to have a Bible club for the purpose of [06:34] studying or praying in a public space [06:38] that is not forcing anybody else to [06:41] affirm anything it is just saying we are [06:44] practicing our religion freely and [06:45] openly as the Constitution says they say [06:48] no no no no that's a violation of the [06:49] First Amendment yet you could look at [06:52] many places and I I'm not trying to [06:54] indict Muslims on this I'm just I'm [06:56] going to make the point that lots of [06:59] provision have been made for example in [07:01] New York City the same permits you would [07:04] need to broadcast something in uh a [07:07] public space has been amended to allow [07:09] the Muslim call to prayer to be at a [07:12] certain volume that you would normally [07:14] need a permit for in other parts of the [07:16] country specifically in Michigan they [07:18] use public utility polls right now [07:21] nobody rushes in with a lawsuit and says [07:23] hey wait a second that's a violation of [07:25] the First Amendment you can't use public [07:27] utility polls for the Muslim call to [07:28] prayer you can't have it at this volume [07:30] this decibel level requires a permit a [07:33] lot of space has been made for one [07:34] particular religion while the other [07:36] religion is told it better keep it to [07:40] itself yeah yeah I could agree with you [07:43] more and and and look if not only that [07:46] as you as you said in the schools let's [07:49] let's step back from just putting say [07:51] the Ten Commandments up on the wall of [07:52] the school let's just say if you're a [07:54] teacher and you want to put the Ten [07:56] Commandments up in your personal space [07:58] on on your Des now the schools would [08:01] allow you to fill that with pride Flags [08:03] or or or or or or pro-abortion Pro [08:07] anything else you on but you can't put [08:09] anything up there that's going to affect [08:12] your faith even if you're not telling [08:14] your students yeah you guys must pray or [08:16] you guys must read this or you guys must [08:18] follow that you know Christianity has [08:21] been marginalized in this country [08:23] something the foundy fers I think if [08:24] they came today and Jefferson in [08:26] particular would look at look at the [08:28] situation today go whoa you guys have [08:31] this completely wrong you you are [08:33] actually all of this is in violation of [08:35] of the First Amendment this is not [08:37] supporting it uh today but again I think [08:40] if you look Andrew at the far left they [08:43] don't look at any of those other groups [08:45] as a threat to what they're trying to [08:48] accomplish whereas Christianity with its [08:51] morals values uh and judeo-christianity [08:55] with the morals the values and the [08:57] principles there those are the threats [08:59] to what they're trying to accomplish to [09:01] move the state into being God and not to [09:04] let people have their individual faith [09:06] that they that they want to hold whether [09:08] it's in Judaism Christianity Muslim you [09:12] know Islam whatever it is the state [09:14] wants to replace all that but [09:16] Christianity because this is a Christian [09:18] Nation founded on those Christian [09:19] principles Christianity is the biggest [09:22] roadblock to them but it's also look [09:25] saying you look there's a difference [09:27] between this alleged [09:30] a Christian nationalism that they keep [09:32] promoting right saying this like oh this [09:34] this Boogeyman out there like Mike [09:35] Johnson has his way it's one thing to [09:38] say well you know when the majority of [09:40] of people have a faith you say well this [09:44] is a majority Christian Nation that [09:45] doesn't mean it's Christian nationalism [09:49] this this nation has many religions um [09:52] as does Israel right Israel is the [09:54] Jewish state but Christians live and are [09:57] treated equally under the law in Israel [09:59] serve in the military serve in the [10:01] government uh serve at all levels of of [10:03] society in Israel you you could take a [10:06] guy like VI ramaswami who a lot of [10:09] conservatives and conservative [10:10] Christians like he's a Hindu and he'll [10:12] say look I'm a Hindu but I respect your [10:14] faith and we have to have the freedom of [10:16] religion so you know for that purpose um [10:20] but you have the what is your take on [10:22] this like alleged white or white [10:24] Christian or Christian National whatever [10:26] they're calling it this this future [10:28] Spectre of Christian [10:30] nationalism oh it it's the biggest red [10:33] hering Boogeyman that they're trying to [10:35] create out there look everybody who [10:38] governs whe whether you're a Christian [10:40] that got elected to office you're a [10:42] Muslim that got elected to office you're [10:44] Jewish or you're you're a full secular [10:47] atheist everybody who governs behind [10:50] them has some worldview and that that [10:54] worldview is driving their ideologies [10:57] and and their decision making so why all [10:59] of a sudden do do we not talk about uh [11:03] uh today that's going on do we not talk [11:04] about lgbtq plus nationalism or do we [11:08] not talk about athe atheist nationalism [11:11] or whatever nationalism out there [11:13] suddenly we want to make a the boogy man [11:15] out of Christian nationalism like like [11:17] Christians are going to get elected to [11:20] office and then Force us all to be [11:21] Christians no nobody wants to see a [11:23] government and Christians in particular [11:26] do not want to see a government that is [11:28] playing side in this game but we do want [11:31] to be governed by people who think like [11:33] this that's what the Democracy part of [11:36] our whole constitutional republic is [11:38] about we want to be governed by people [11:41] who think like us and that that's [11:43] suddenly that's wrong for Christians but [11:45] it's right for everybody else out there [11:48] so there is that this Christian [11:50] nationalism idea that that suddenly [11:52] Christians are going to get in and the [11:54] government's going to come out and say [11:55] you all have to be you know Evangelical [11:59] Christians go to church it's just it's [12:01] it's this whole scare and fear tactic [12:04] out there to that that's meant to divide [12:07] us and it's meant to put these robots in [12:09] place so that their agenda could put in [12:12] nobody's out there running going oh you [12:14] know if these atheists get in they're [12:16] going to make us all atheists but look [12:18] that's if you look at our laws and look [12:19] at the policies have been put in that's [12:22] certainly what drives a lot of our [12:23] institutions today yeah I I mean it it [12:28] is kind of funny [12:30] that they're out there worried about [12:31] this Christian nationalism thing yet [12:34] they're the ones trying to squash they [12:36] say they say well you know there's a [12:38] separate like you said the the the [12:39] Jefferson letter but any just simple [12:43] reading of the First Amendment the only [12:46] thing it says is Congress and think [12:47] about this for a second let's just say [12:49] let's just say for the sake of argument [12:51] right let's just say it there was no [12:53] Jews or Muslims or Hindus or Buddhists [12:56] or [12:57] atheists well Christianity has [13:00] Presbyterians uh it has Pentecostals it [13:04] has many sects to the one religion who [13:08] would be in charge then right that's [13:10] also a reason why you don't want you [13:13] know when you say a religion well [13:15] there's more to it than a religion [13:17] because there's a multifaceted you know [13:20] network of churches that are different [13:22] from one another Lutheran for example um [13:26] right you but what Congress is not [13:29] allowed to do is say okay the United [13:31] States will have its own version of the [13:33] Anglican church and that is the only [13:35] religion and the only church that's [13:37] allowed and it will be we don't know [13:39] what sect it would [13:41] be but at the same time they said [13:44] Congress can pass no law respecting an [13:46] establishment of religion but it also [13:49] protects the the free exercise thereof [13:52] and that's the part that has been lost [13:54] in this [13:56] discussion that's you're absolutely [13:58] right that's the that's been lost [13:59] everybody talks about the First [14:01] Amendment as The Establishment Clause [14:04] and that's only half of the the the the [14:06] case here you you put your your finger [14:09] right on the biggest problem that's [14:10] going on today is the government has [14:13] consistently and is constantly [14:15] interfering in the free exercise up but [14:18] by the way the Supreme Court even over [14:21] the history of the Supreme Court while [14:23] the while institutions are forbidden to [14:25] do that the court has constantly said as [14:27] in the recent case uh with the with [14:30] Coach Kennedy that that individuals have [14:33] that right indivi that's why Kennedy won [14:36] his case at the Supreme Court to say I [14:38] have the right to kneel and pray as a as [14:40] a citizen of this country as a person of [14:44] faith I can kneel and pray I can't [14:45] compel anybody else to kneel but if [14:48] anybody else kneels to pray with me just [14:50] because I happen to be a coach in a [14:51] school system doesn't make that a [14:53] government sponsored uh uh uh event [14:57] that's is that's somehow Across The [14:59] Establishment Clause and so at least the [15:01] courts have recognized that and recently [15:03] recognized that but the left and and [15:06] people are constantly pushing this [15:08] establishment side at the expense of the [15:12] free exercise of our conscience in this [15:15] country to to live out our faith that we [15:18] want it the way we want to live it out [15:19] the government wants us to have these [15:21] only have these houses of worship and [15:24] and your your faith stays there but [15:26] that's never that's never what the [15:28] founding father [15:29] and that's never what we people of Faith [15:32] have ever been called to you know and [15:35] it's [15:36] also super Petty right um it's if a [15:40] Coach you know kneels down in the 50 [15:43] yard line or even says hey you know uh [15:47] if you want to pray before the game I'll [15:49] meet you out in Midfield what the hell [15:51] is the harm in that like what is the [15:52] heck in the harm in that right like [15:54] we're we're we're literally say if the [15:56] worst thing your your public school has [15:58] your government school has is The Ten [15:59] Commandments maybe there are some [16:01] schools that should you know what I mean [16:02] like if that's the worst thing that [16:04] you've got to worry about in this era of [16:07] you know gangs and violence I realize [16:09] teen pregnancy is uh you know in Decline [16:13] but you look at what all the things that [16:15] could affect a neighborhood school if [16:17] the worst thing that you're fighting [16:18] over is whether or not the Ten [16:20] Commandments are going up you probably [16:22] won the lottery in [16:24] life yeah you boy that's exactly right [16:28] because as you said [16:29] if if that's the if that's the biggest [16:31] problem in a school today that that by [16:33] the way everybody would look at those [16:35] Ten Commandments and and and say look if [16:38] we live by them we'd probably be a lot [16:40] better but schools today that are [16:42] dealing with you know bullying dealing [16:44] with violence have to have metal [16:46] detectors you know dealing with you know [16:49] students who who go off the deep end I [16:51] mean come on we need a little bit more [16:54] value in our lives today the more value [16:57] we pull out of out of that the more the [16:59] values we take out of that the more [17:00] morality we take out of that look at the [17:02] problems we have today what what what is [17:04] wrong with that and but but I also end [17:06] dra on the reverse of it we we bring in [17:09] all of these other negative ideas into [17:12] the school systems and those are okay it [17:14] it to today we have to take the Ten [17:16] Commandments out but we have to teach [17:19] you you know kindergarteners and [17:21] Elementary School students we have to [17:23] teach them about are you sure you were [17:26] born with the gender you think you have [17:28] you know we're we're going to teach them [17:30] this and if they happen to just say well [17:33] you know I think I'm a little a little [17:35] boy says I I think I like little girls [17:37] things then all of a sudden we're going [17:39] to not only are we going to take that [17:41] kid and indoctrinate and all that if the [17:43] parents get involved in in certain [17:46] states in the state of California we're [17:47] going to take the parents totally out of [17:49] out of the loop of that so that's okay [17:51] but the Ten Commandments aren't yeah is [17:53] it and we just saw we just saw in uh [17:56] California they signed a bill into law [17:58] that says schools are not allowed to [18:00] tell parents when their children [18:03] socially transition or come out of the [18:05] closet or engage in all sorts of [18:07] practices they're not allowed to even [18:09] tell the parents anymore um you know if [18:12] you're concerned about um The Ten [18:15] Commandments going up or uh whatever it [18:19] is well there's it's sort of I don't [18:21] want to say backlash but it's the [18:22] pendulum swinging you've brought too [18:25] many things into the classroom that are [18:28] inappropriate and now people are [18:32] reclaiming that's right the people are [18:35] reclaiming the the the push back today [18:37] the the whole school uh Choice Movement [18:40] that's had had great success over the [18:42] last couple of years The Homeschool [18:44] movement that's going on uh is is we're [18:47] seeing all of this push back we don't [18:49] want we want our kids to go to school [18:51] and learn to read to write uh to be able [18:54] to do to do math to understand the [18:56] history of our country we don't want [18:57] them to go being doctrinated uh on on [19:00] things that that we as parents you know [19:03] oppose and then they have school systems [19:05] to say and we're going to hide that from [19:07] you as parents so you don't know that or [19:10] if you do know that in certain States [19:11] we're just going to remove the children [19:13] from your your home yeah there's a huge [19:15] push back on this and look look what [19:17] happened at the health and human [19:18] services over the last couple of weeks [19:20] I'm an adopted father of four kids we [19:23] have four wonderful children that God [19:26] was able to to place in the in the heart [19:28] our home and now HHS says if you want to [19:31] be a foster care parent and you want to [19:33] be a adoptive parent in in this in in [19:36] America you have to sign this agreement [19:39] that says if your foster kid or your [19:42] adoptive kid uh uh suddenly says that [19:45] they they want to uh transgender or they [19:48] want to to go to the opposite direction [19:52] you have to sign that as a parent you [19:54] will fully support that otherwise you [19:56] can't uh be involved in the ad option or [19:59] or foster care system Christians make up [20:03] the majority of the compassionate people [20:05] that do this and now the government has [20:07] has said you guys cannot be involved in [20:11] this that is the government stepping [20:12] into the free exercise of they're saying [20:15] your conscience your faith that doesn't [20:18] matter you have to believe what we [20:20] believe as a government if you want to [20:22] participate in in those activities today [20:25] that's ju it just sickens my heart well [20:28] I guess take a break we went uh oh boy8 [20:31] minutes long that it's all right you [20:33] know we're we're satellite radio we can [20:36] uh you know play with our clock a little [20:37] bit but I do have to take the break and [20:38] get back on clock uh I think religious [20:41] broadcasters are going to be a powerful [20:42] force this year uh probably more [20:44] powerful than they have been uh in an [20:46] election in a long time not
