Transcript [00:00] [Music] [00:07] welcome back to America right now I'm [00:08] Tom basil in this week's faith in [00:10] America segment we hear so often about [00:13] the rise of the nuns and folks who are [00:17] not affiliated with any religious [00:19] identity at all and the advance of a [00:21] more secular society but on the flip [00:24] side we are also seeing a sharp rise in [00:27] faith-based media and media with [00:30] biblical me message in fact today 141 [00:33] million Americans watch or listen to [00:36] some form of just Christian broadcasting [00:39] every single month for more on this [00:42] trend uh we're joined by the president [00:44] and the CEO of the National Religious [00:46] broadcasters Troy Miller in studio good [00:49] to see you good to be with you today [00:51] yeah so you know um there's a crusade [00:54] against faith in this country I'm I know [00:56] you know it I know that you see it but [00:58] on the flip side it's seems to be that [01:00] there is there is more faith-based [01:04] media um either streaming cable or [01:08] online than ever before tell us about [01:12] the trend yeah I do I think people are [01:15] uh it's easier first of all to get into [01:16] into faith-based media today that's one [01:19] Trend that's really going and people are [01:20] excited about their faith look as the [01:22] world gets darker people are looking for [01:24] Hope looking for light they're looking [01:26] for light they're looking for hope [01:28] they're looking for meaning they're find [01:29] finding out that a lot of the things [01:31] that they've been fed through the [01:32] secular media things that they learned [01:35] in college and get out in the real world [01:37] and and it provides nothing for them but [01:39] despair so we're seeing a lot of right [01:41] and we're seeing a lot of young people [01:43] yeah being bold to go out and and [01:45] Proclaim their face so we're seeing a [01:47] lot more on Tik Tok and Instagram and [01:49] those uh Avenues as well yeah now it it [01:51] it really is amazing I mean there there [01:53] are a bunch of different channels out [01:54] there and then of course there are uh [01:57] there are other digital digital [01:58] offerings one of the people that I [02:00] follow is Bishop Robert Baron who has [02:03] Mill who's reaching millions of people [02:05] every single uh every single week really [02:08] with with uh with his message um you [02:12] know there's among certain religious [02:14] groups and certain Faith leaders there [02:17] has always been this reticence to engage [02:20] in a in political what they call [02:22] political discussion right do you feel [02:25] that that's changing where um religious [02:30] broadcasters uh people who are out there [02:32] on these platforms really because of the [02:34] attacks on freedom of religion that we [02:36] have seen in our country and around the [02:38] world that that is changing where people [02:41] feel like it's our responsibility to [02:43] really engage in in a in a discussion a [02:46] substantive discussion about protecting [02:48] Faith yeah starting back in 2008 the [02:50] left went on a real hard campaign to try [02:53] to shame Christians and to shame people [02:55] from being involved in politics they [02:57] tried to look at if you're a Christian [02:59] and you're involved in politics that [03:00] that's a negative thing that's a you [03:02] shouldn't be doing that but Christians [03:04] today look postco what's happened with [03:07] the weaponization of government with [03:08] social media uh uh censoring Christians [03:12] and and not just censoring big Christian [03:13] organizations and media but censoring [03:15] Mom and Pops who want to talk about the [03:17] key issues of today that's emboldened [03:19] Christians I think to get more involved [03:21] and to speak out so they're not going to [03:23] silence the Christian message I think [03:25] they're going to wake a sleeping giant I [03:27] hope yeah and I think that we're we're [03:29] already starting to see that more [03:31] traditional more traditional Catholics [03:33] people going back to you know uh like a [03:37] not watered down version of biblical of [03:40] judeo-christian values biblical values I [03:42] think we're also seeing it um with many [03:45] with many Jews since uh since sept uh [03:48] since October 7th of last year and the [03:51] attacks on on the Jewish people and and [03:53] Jew and the Jewish faith here in the [03:55] United States where can people learn [03:57] more about your organization and what [03:59] you do yeah so you can go to nrb.org.np
